Jack Vettriano joined over 250 other artists, designers and celebrities in helping the Elephant Family make the 2010 Elephant Parade, London’s biggest and brightest ever outdoor art event.
Jack’s elephant is a nod to his most famous work and the production has been generously sponsored by The Elephant Family and Sir Evelyn de Rothschild in memory of the Late Rajmata of Jaipur, a leading Patron of the Elephant Family.
Elephants designed by artists and designers including Jonathan Yeo, Mark Quinn, Alice Temperley, Nina Campbell, Diane Von Furstenberg and John Rocha were currently on display at more than 250 locations across London from 2nd May to 30th June 2010.
Jack Vettriano’s elephant was amongst a special selection of 31 elephants auctioned at a special gala event at the Royal Hospital Chelsea on the 30th June. The auction was conducted by Henry Wyndham, Chairman of Sotheby’s, with Elephant Family’s Patron, Goldie Hawn, in attendance.
Jack Vettriano’s elephant was sold for an astonishing £155,000 and was the highest bid for Lot of the night.

Elephant Parade is a conservation campaign that shines a multi-coloured spotlight on the urgent crisis faced by the endangered Asian elephant. Brought to you by The Elephant Family, the event sees over 250 brightly painted life-size elephants located over central London this summer.
